We have two pools in our neighborhood, one is a lap pool and the other is only a recreational pool. That limits me to only one of the pools to actually go to if I want to swim laps. Both dh and I are ex-swimmers and would like to be able to have the freedom to swim laps in the pool that our homeowners association taxes go to. Well we have a very active swim team for the kids here in our neighborhood (which is great) but their practices take up a lot of hours from the one pool that we swim in. We get monthly newsletters from our neighborhood with a summer schedule of all the practices and swim lesson times. I was an avid runner pre-pregnancy but decided to give it up for the duration because of the Texas heat, and because it is so high impact. So today I decided I would jump back in the pool so that I could get some exercise in. I followed the schedule which by the way only has one lap lane open from 5-6 am and 2-4 pm. I got to the pool which was packed and the one lap lane was full of people teaching swim lessons, even though the schedule that we recieved said that the lane was for lap swimming. So not really being able to swim in it I attempted to swim on the other side of the laneline where all the kids were playing. This was a joke, because it is impossible to actually get a work out in when there are kids/parents that keep standing, floating, and swimming in your way. So it looked like the swim lessons were over and I moved into the lap lane. I was in the middle of swimming when I was advised by one of the swim instructors that they had the lane reserved. So fumingly I moved on over again and finished my work out. I did not get in half the amount I wanted to and went home. I called my homeowners association and complained. Their solution was to post the schedule in a better location so that the swim instructors will notice it more. If this does not work I am going to end up telling off the swim lesson people or telling off my HOA in person. I mean, I am all for the kids being able to swim, have fun, and learn lessons but there should also be a time and a place for the adults too. I am one mad pregnant woman, I think that I deserve to be able to swim in the pool that we pay for!!! :fmad:
