Kit Kat Bars

Since we're swappin' so many desserts, thought I share this one. I made these the way the recipe was written, mine came out fine. At the bottom of the recipe is the notes I copied from the BB where it was posted, so they aren't my notes. These were so good!

Kit Kat Bars

Recipe By :
Serving Size : 36 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Desserts

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
84 Ritz Crackers -- (about 2 1/2
sleeves)
1 1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
3/4 c brown sugar
1 c sugar
3/4 c butter
1/3 c milk
1 c butterscotch chips
1 c semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 c peanut butter

Put graham crackers, brown sugar, white sugar, butter and milk into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes.
Put a layer of crackers in a 9 x 13-inch pan and pour 1/2 of the mixture over it. Put another layer of crackers and pour the remaining mixture. Add one last row of crackers.
Melt, over low heat, the butterscotch chips, chocolate chips and peanut butter. When melted, spread evenly over the top. When cool, cut into desired bars or squares.

NOTES :

I read this note on another bulletin board....

somebody had problems with the bottom crumbling. There was a reply suggesting putting a little more of the butter, graham cracker, sugar, etc. mixture over the first layer of ritz crackers. That seemed to do the trick, they came out of the pan pretty clean. A keeper for sure.

so I made 1 1/2 times the graham cracker layer -- 1 1/8 cup brown sugar, 2 1/4 c graham crackers, 1 1/2 c sugar, 18 tbsp butter (2 sticks plus 2 tbsp), 1/2 cup milk. I didn't quite use all of this, but I used most. could have used all, I guess. but, on the other hand, I think the recipe would have been good as written, too.

Your most welcome! Glad you enjoyed them. I was hesitant at first because of the Ritz crackers, it sounded odd to me, but your right you can't even tell.

Oh and yes, they are better.

BTW........welcome to Home Talkers!
