eggless cakes?

I can make eggless cakes, but I cannot figure out how to make an eggless pound cake or angelfood cake. I know angelfood cake is mostly egg whites, but I was trying to figure out a substitute. I also would be subbing soymilk for milk and marg. for butter.

Couldn't find anything on Angel food cake, but did find this:

PHP Code:
Egg Substitutes

A popular egg substitute is Ener
-G egg replacerwhich is make from potato starchtapioca flourleavening agents (calcium lactate calcium carbonate, and citric acid) and a gum derived from cottonseedIt's primarily intended to replace the leavening/binding characteristics of eggs in baking, but it can be used for nonbaked foods and quiches.

Alternative replacements (quantity per egg substituted for):

Ingredients:

2 oz of soft tofu can be blended with some water and substituted for an egg to add consistency. Or try the same quantity of: mashed beans, mashed potatoes, or nut butters.
1/2 mashed banana
1/4 cup applesauce or pureed fruit
One Tbsp flax seeds (found in natural food stores) with 3 Tbsp water can be blended for 2 to 3 minutes, or boiled for 10 minutes or until desired consistency is achieved to substitute for one egg.
1 tsp. soy flour plus 1 Tbsp. water to substitute for one egg.
Hope this helps!

I have no clue...I have a ton of veggie cook books right here, but none of them have angelfood or pound cake in it.

I have a favorite cake that is really yummy. It's very moist and dense, kind of like a pound cake. DH says it tastes like a sugar cookie but he is weird.

3 cups cake flour
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup shortening
3 T. water, 3 T. canola oil, 2 tsp. baking powder; mixed together
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two cake pans. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Using an electric mixer, beat until well mixed, approximately 4 minutes. Pour batter into cake pans. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks. Frost when completely cooled.

Being the freak that I am I use gluten free baking mix instead of cake flour, I also use organic trans-fat free shortening (365 brand from whole foods specifically), tubinado sugar...

I am new at this, but I saw a recipe for an eggles angelfood cake on "Vegan-food.net/index.cgi?cakes". I am not a vegetarian and can't vouch for the taste, but it might be worth a try.
