How often do you have to pull out/treat the weeds in your lawn? What do you use and/or do to help prevent them from getting out of control?

I have to admit I don't tend to my gardens as well as I should but I just pull them and throw the remains in the compost pile.

For our lawn we just use a weed & feed in the spring/early summer (we neglect our lawn a bit).

For the garden I pull weeds when I get a chance & throw them in my lawn refuse bag.
