15 things I want to improve around my house

1. I want new floors really badly. I hate the ugly white tiles that overwhelm the entire downstairs and can't wait to cover them with some beautiful wood floors!

2. I want to rip up the disgusting carpet on my staircase and upstairs loft. It is full of cat-induced stains but I will wait until she is gone before I change that since I don't want to run the risk of anymore stains.

3. I want new kitchen appliances. We got a beautiful new fridge and will slowly add the other appliances to match.

4. I want new kitchen cabinets. Well, not really new cabinets, I just want to reface the current ones with a nicer front.

5. I want new kitchen counter tops. Granite anyone?

6. I want a new shower. We need a serious update of our master bathroom, starting with the shower....

7. Organization. Some parts of my house are complete chaos. I need to get organized.

8. The backyard! Thankfully we are in the process of doing this one. It's taking a long time, but it will be done soon, I'm sure!

9. Fix the paint chips. We've got paint chips galore all over the house. It's just a matter of me going to the store and picking up all the paint colors I need.

10. Update my son's bedroom. Nothing major - just need to get him a big boy bed and make his room more "kid-friendly" instead of so babyish.

11. Get rid of clothes!! I have a ton of clothes that I haven't touched in ages. They need to go. Now!

12. Buy a big area rug for my living room! This too won't happen though until our sweet kitty is no longer around. I can't risk having anymore "accidents" on the rugs and ruining them. That has happened quite a few times already.

13. Shelves. We need lots and lots of shelves.....in the bathroom, in the office, in the loft. Maybe we just have too much stuff?!

14. Clean out the garage! You wouldn't believe me if I told you what it looked like. It's not normal. We have a 2 car garage. one side has a car, the othe side......well, let's just say it has enough things in it to fill a store. Anyone need an old elliptical trainer? Some baby toys? A jogging stroller, perhaps?

15. Get some new window treatments. 2 different cleaning ladies have broken 2 different sets of shades in 2 different rooms in our house. WTF?

I just want to get started on our kitchen/dining room. AGAIN! This time, we're knocking out the wall between the kitchen and the formal dining room (since we never eat in there) to make a huge kitchen you can also eat in. Also adding 2 pantries! Yes - once again I'll be covered with dust and sick as a dog!!! Why DO I keep doing this?

Your a glutton for punishment Turtlehead

We have several projects started and NONE finsihed, We are tiling our floors ourselves, we got one room finished before the cold weather hit and have 2 more rooms and a hallway to go. I had my kitchen and dining room painted only for the painter to mess it up and leave with it undone so it had been messed up for 9 months and I decided to go in and Kilz it, now I am trying to decide what I want to do now, wallpaper or paint? And last but far from least we bought a storage building but haven't had the chance to put it up, we got the ground level, the floor frame finished and the floor decking on it, now we're battling rain and the floor is 3/4 inch wood
And I need my carpet cleaned SO bad that I want to cry and with moisture in the air every weekend there is no way I can clean it, and I have to pick a weekend there is no moisture AND the kids are gone, now that's the biggest challenge of all.

Here's a pic of the room we finished.. (I am proud of that hard work so I have to show you).

Gorgeous huh!!

Gosh Csara, I'm with you there... My 2 car garage is full of crap, both stalls!

And I have more clothes that I can't wear than I can? I have gained alot of weight so of course I had to buy new clothes for that, and I can't get rid of all the old ones because I might lose weight

I need to get organized so badly too, but how? I dont' have someone to show me how???

I'm not an outdoorsy person so my yard is just ugly too. I told my Man that I didn't want a yard and he insisted, now we have the ugliest yard in the neighborhood, I am surprised we haven't been run out of here...lol

What to do?!

Thank you very much! Now if it will just warm up enough to finish the last 2 rooms and the hallway.

There were literally hundreds of cuts with the wet saw so you can't do that while it's windy or cool. And with all of the cuts in that room, Don is trying to look at another way to lay it just as pretty but with less cuts.

We'll see what happens

Wow - thanks for reviving this thread. I am so excited to read my list because in less than a year, I have done the majority of things I wanted to do and improve on. Yay!!

1. We got new floors!!!

2. We ripped up the carpet on the staircase and loft and put down the same wood that we covered all of our ugly tile with. It looks so good now!

3. We got all new kitchen appliances and I LOVE them!

4. We are getting new cabinets - kitchen remodel is starting in two weeks.

5. Yep, granite counter tops are being installed with our kitchen remodel

6. Unfortunately, there won't be a bathroom remodel this year.

7. Organization - still working on it.

8. We did the backyard, although it still needs improvement.

9. Paint chips will be fixed in 2 weeks.

10. I have made my son's room more big boyish, but will definitely be doing that when we start working on the new baby's nursery in a few months.

11. I still need to get rid of a lot of clothes, but mostly now I have to get rid of STUFF! I have so much unwanted and unneeded stuff.

12. Got my new area rug for the living room!!

Garage still needs to be done. I think we are too afraid to even go in there and start working on it.

Oh HEATHER! You made me think of the WINDOWS! I really need to get mine cleaned inside and out... they're BAD!!! I've got those big, floor to ceiling windows running the entire front of the house - and they have storm windows over the outside part - and they have little panes... WHAT A PAIN! I've GOT to get them cleaned... they've just gotten horrid!
