RX by mail

does anyone use a mail order perscription service through insurance? I just learned that I can get my maintenance rx's (BCP, thyroid, etc) via mail - you get a 90 day supply with only 2 month's worth of co-pays. I don't know why I'm leary about that... anyone have a good experience obtaining maintenance meds this way?

My mother does that with all of her medications. I'm like you - I've just never done it - but mom SWEARS by it and has never had any problems.

I use Medco, and with the regular medications I haven't had a problem, but with my special medicine we did have a problem, first they had to know the exact dose the the Forteo pen, if you know what forteo is, it doesn't really have dosing in the terms of 2cc's a day, it's preset and you can only get a certain injection amount every single time, so I found that to be really odd, and it has to be refrigerated and for some reason that was complicated to them.

They insisted on me setting a date with them to mail it, which I thought thats what we did the first time we spoke, it took 3 calls for them just to mail it, I called back a fourth time to make sure it was mailed and they couldn't even tell me whether it was or not, so I wanted to talk to someone else and they sent me to their "special" pharmacy where I was on hold for 30 minutes before I finally said screw it. I decided if I didn't get it that week I would get my doc to give me another script and I would just go to Walmart.
It was on my porch two mornings later, so I was in complete awe that they didn't know it had even been mailed already?

I think as long as it's not a new medicine they arn't familiar with you'll be just fine. Good luck!

I haven't used ours, but it is an option. I would think as long as it (the prescription service) is recommended by your insurance company it should fine.
