Smile If walls could talk

This is my favorite show right now. Its on hgtv. It was on at 7pm every night and the boys knew we watched. They actually started watching with me. For anyone who isn't familiar its a show about people who own homes that usually have some sort of history to them. Sometimes they are several 100 years old sometimes only 50-60 yrs old. But I love history so to me its awesome. I especially love the southern homes with the love letters and old pictures from the Civil War era.

I love EVERYTHING on HGTV! But this is a really cool show! I'm a nut for history too, and I live in an older home that I found out EVERYTHING about too. Plus the things I put in my house all have a story to them... the furniture, etc. I like antiques and family things that have something to say, rather than all NEW stuff - but that's just me!

How cool THF!!! I would love to find a house like that. Full of history. It wouldn't even have to be famous people who lived there.

Our house was built in 1925 (I'm a sucker for older homes) and I know it has a lot of history. I would love to find out its whole story though. How would I go about researching it?
PS. I know that there was a newscaster for one of the major networks that lived here as a child but nobody seems to be able to remember which one.

I'm not sure RedBed. Are there any older neighbors still in your neighborhood? That's how we found out about ours, but OBVIOUSLY you're not going to have ORIGINAL neighbors!

Our next door neighbor (when we moved here) had built his house and it was only the 2nd one on the street...which is HARD to imagine! Our home was built by one family and their daughter lived here before us. THAT'S IT - only one family, which is kind of cool! Any time we do anything to the house, we always think of them and if they would like it! We also always write on the beams of the house (inside the walls) the dates and our names so that if anyone else buys it and tears things apart to redo, they'll be able to find stuff about us! Sort of wierd, but I thought it was fun...

You might also check where deeds and things are. I can't think of what it's called, but we found what our original neighborhood was called and all the landtracts marked.
