A very good friend of our families, a young man, hit a little boy on a bike this afternoon on Hillcrest.

It wasn't his fault and all the officers were very supportive and caring towards him but he is devastated as we all are.

It happened late this afternoon. He had to help the little boy until the ambulance got their.

They life flighted the little boy, but it doesn't look good.

PLEASE send prayers both for my young friend - and for this little boy and ALL of their families!

Just got word: 10:10 pm - the teenager riding the bicycle didn't make it! I know none of these families are ever going to be the same again...

Oh Susan, I am so sorry to hear this.I wish them all strength as they deal with this. How awful.

Oh my...

this is just horrible! I'm very sorry for the child and his family and for your friend, it must be really tough for him even if it wasn't his fault...

That is so awful!! Honest to goodness it is a nightmare of mine for that to ever happen to me. I know that it's many times not the automobile driver's fault but they are usually charged/blamed for hitting a biker or pedestrian. How tragic for all of them.

Yea I also feel afraid of that... there are pedestrians who cross the road without looking and of course children can be so fast and hard to see... the problem is that even if you're not charged and even knowing it wasn't your fault, I doubt anyone can get over such a tragedy.

This is truly horrible.

Apparently the teenage boy was on his bicycle and lost control coming down a steep hill. He came into the road... my young friend swerved into a ditch to try to miss him - but the young man came off his bike and landed under the truck and the back wheels went over him.

My friend was with him - clearing his airway and talking to him waiting for the ambulance... It's horrible for all involved. Even though it was an accident - I just have a feeling this isn't something any of them is going to deal with very well.

Oh man I am so sorry for all involved! I pray that they have the strength to get through this.
