mealplan starting June 21

ok, so dh and I are totally cutting out pasta, rice and white bread (still doing SMALL portions of whole grain wheat and low carb/high fiber wraps on occasion). We are doing this for a month to see if/how it compliments or exercise routines. We are also cutting out most processed crackers, etc (except for Triscuits, I can't seem to live without them! But I'm really watching portions). We aren't enforcing it for our girls, but will encourage them to try fish, etc (they are already great about grains/veg/fruit).

HEre's the plan so far:

Sat: grilled mahi-mahi, field green salad with asian ginger dressing

sun: eating at family's house - we will be grilling out so I'll just omit bread and potato

Mon: beefy fajita salad

Tues; panko breaded chicken, field greens with lemony vinagarette

wed: spicy shrimp and veggie toss

Thurs: grilled chicken, spinach and chickpea curry

Fri: lettuce wraps and potstickers

sat: grilled flank steak, grilled veggies, salad

Yum - that entire menu looks fantastic. I am starving right now and that sooo didn't help. I haven't been good about meal planning lately and we really have found ourselves scrounging for food. I will have to work on my menu for the week later or tomorrow because it makes such a huge difference.

C, I have so many great recipes right now - just let me know if you need any ideas or inspiration. I started receiving Kraft Everyday Foods magazine as well as Everyday Food Magazine (Martha Stewart) and have tried so many great new things! I have no idea what I would do if I didn't mealplan.

Thank you so much, D!

My mom just bought me the huge Better Home and Garden New Cook Book (limited edition - for breast cancer) and I spent a lot of time going through it this weekend. I am going to try all new recipes this week. Not that I haven't made any of these things before, such as bolognese (lol), but it's a recipe I haven't tried.

1. Fish tacos w/ mango salsa
2. Everyday succotash salad and corn cakes with chives
3. Spaghetti bolognese with a salad
4. Greek chicken w/ tzatiki sauce and pita
5. Zucchini and carrot burgers

your plan sounds great - very fresh! I love trying a week's worth of new recipes! If you like the fish tacos, let me know. I am looking for a great recipe (all the ones that I have seen require frying the fish)

I went grocery shopping this morning after dropping J off at camp and the amount of produce I bought was insane!! I am excited to try everything. Tonight I will probably try one of the vegetarian meals. I will definitely let you know how everything goes.

I've made a bunch of things from the book and I am really not impressed.

Everyday succotash salad - should be a side-dish at a crappy cafeteria style restaurant. Don't know why it even has a recipe, but that is my fault for not thinking of that ahead of time. It honestly doesn't even look good on paper. LOL!

corn cakes with chives - OK....if eaten in very little moderation.

Greek chicken w/ tzatiki sauce and pita - these were pretty good. The recipe calls for ground lamb, but I used ground chicken so....
There were no left overs so that is always a good thing. My DH liked it.

Zucchini and carrot burgers - these were definitely interesting. not bad, but I don't think I'd make them again.

I'm afraid to even try any more recipes from this cookbook...but how bad can spaghetti bolognese be, right? I might skip the fish tacos and look for a recipe elsewhere.

well, that stinks that you haven't found some killer recipes. Try the bolanese sauce, you might be surprised! Have you ever made it in the slow cooker? I love doing it that way.
