Halloween!! - Your ideas requested

Finally - I get to have my Halloween party. I love Halloween, it's my favorite holiday of the year.

This year, B and I will be "The Newly Deads", and we're going to make the theme of the party a wedding reception. We're going to find an old wedding dress at the goodwill for me, and die it grey so that it looks old and buried. B is going to get a suit from there, and his suit will get the same treatment. We're going to do blood splatters on us somewhere, but I haven't figured that part out yet.

Here are a few things that we have planned for the party:

A Wedding Cake - it will be iced in grey icing, and the flowers on it will be painted grey too, and then we'll put little sugar bugs on the cake. The cake will be a white cake dyed blood red inside. I thought of doing a Red Velvet cake, but thats just a bit more work than I want to do.

Cake cutting ceremony - With our fake bloody knife (One of us will get stabbed, instead of getting a bite of cake)

Our first dance - In the middle of the song, there will be a terrified scream, then B and I fall to the floor, and we throw a couple of water balloons at a couple of guests. It should make a few people jump.

Best Man Toast - Bs oldest brother will give a toast for us, welcoming us on "The Day of the Dead". We'll have a Blood Champagne Toast (red dyed sparkling cider I think)

I wanted to make my station wagon into a hearse by using cardboard boxes (My plan was really simple!), but B said no - the party pooper.

Custome Contest, of course

"Don't Say a Word" game - everyone will wear a ghost pin, and if you say the word "Halloween", someone can steal your pin. Whoever has the most pins at the end of the party wins something

"Identify the Lab Objects" - cardboard boxes filled with gross items - example: Box is labeled "Brain of Man", and it will be filled with saurkraut -the guest has to put their hand into the box, and figure out what is really in the box. Hot dogs for human fingers, corn silk for hair, etc.

Anyone have any other ideas, or does anything think I should lose something from my list?

I'm really looking for some good creepy food ideas. Thanks all!

That sounds fun!!!!! How creative. I love Halloween too. We had a kids party one year and made the kids reach into bowls of gross stuff. LIke overcooked speghetti mixed with ketchup so when they pulled their hand out it looked bloody.PLus other stuff....it was awhile ago....I forget some things. We did a fortune teller too. They loved it. But with your theme I'm not sure.
Good luck with the planning. Definatly post pics....

I love your idea!! How about buying roses and letting them die for your boo-quet? Or for the centerpieces.

These would be cute for the entrance into the wedding, you get the general idea, you could make them spookier with cobwebs, maybe use twisted pus-sywillow branches so they are higher, and spray paint the branches black:

I'll have to post more when I have time...........

I am so excited! LOL It's about all I can think about right now - I love throwing parties, and Halloween is such a great tie to throw them.

Meliz - Please do share the idea. I actually got the idea from these silly, and a bit stupid, dancing dolls at Kmart - the Newly Deads. We were there looking for a cape for hubby, because we were just going to do a witch and wizard (I have a fantastic witches costume), but when I saw that doll, I fell in love with the idea.

I'd love to hear about the "Body Shop" party - we plan on having a Halloween party every two years, so themes are needed.

Some more ideas I've had:

Bouquet - We're going to buy some cheap flowers from the dollar store, and spray paint them black for my bouquet. Actually, we're going to make two bouquets - one to throw, and one for me to carry.

Garter Belt - yep, we're gonna do that too! When B pulls the garter belt off, he's going to dip it into a bowl of something wet and red, so that whoever catches it gets "bloody" hands.

Apple heads! - I love apple heads. We're going to make a bunch of them into taper holders for the buffet table. With black tapers of course. We're also going to dangle several of them from the ceiling.

Hanged Fairy - Lots of people hang a dead man from a tree, so that idea isn't very original - so we just decided to make it a bit weirder. We're going to make our hanged man a hanged fairy, with wings and all.

Mel - I love that tree! It would be perfect for our party. I'm going to make a couple of them, lol.

C - You could do an "Evil Laboratory" theme, and that should be fairly simple. Just get a couple of white lab coats, add some blood to them, and whatever else would be neat, and you have costumes. You can get a bunch of jarred goods from the grocery, and use them as props, such as: saurkraut for brains, spaghetti in sauce for intestines, tomato sauce for blood, toddler jars of hot dogs for fingers and toes... you get the idea. Take the real labels off and then add your own creepy ones. Get a large skeleton, and lay him out on a table, place a dirty and icky cloth over his belly section, cut a hole in the cloth, and then use spaghetti in sauce for instines. I have an endless idea of foods for that theme! Baked Skin and Diced Intestines (chips and salsa), eyeballs (rice crispy treats shaped into balls covered in white icing, with an M&M placed on it, and a dot of black icing on the M&M). Etc. You and J could then chase people around all night, being creepy and wanting to use them experiments

Heather - I love the idea of creeping the kids out that way, too funny!

I LOVE them!!

Now lookie here what I found:

http://www.apictureperfectwedding.com/ppw798.htm

Martha Stewart has her Halloween mag out, you should skim it in the check out line, it has a neat room with cheesecloth draped that looks cool, she also did something with mens wig holder, draped it in gauze tinted yellow and wrapped it up, then set it on a platter to serve drinks, its kinda cool. She also did some gourd carvings that were neat and tombstones that don't look cheesy. And some meringue bones that would be cute.

I did this last year in our house, around my doorway and up one wall, it looked awesome.........minus the big spider, we purchased one that I hung upside down on our wood beams:

I did this one too up the driveway, it was easy and looked great at night, during the day I pulled them inside, it says "I'd turn back if I were you"

And since your marrying, you can't forget your ball and chain.

That is SO COOL!!! I totally love Halloween - but my hub doesn't really get into it. It's just about my favorite holiday - dress up for adults! Pretty much the only time you can do that and not get taken away to the looney bin - ya know?

I love everything you've got going! PLEASE take pics so you can post some! It looks fantastic!!!!
