Organization system?

Does anyone have a good organization system going for their mail/bills/etc.?
We have one section in the kitchen that is off to the side (no one can really see it unless they come and LOOK). Anyway, we keep the phone there, along with mail, bills, stamps, checkbooks, address book, pens, business cards, our cell phones and chargers, basically - it is a big collaboration of some really important stuff. The problem is just that it is so unorganized. I would LOVE to create a really efficient space so that I can keep track of things and so it will look nice. Any ideas???? Pictures would be helpful.

There are lots of really cool storage thingies out there, especially at Pottery Barn and Container Store. What kind of space are you trying to organize? Is this a built-in desk area, or just counter space in the kitchen, or what?

I like this message center from Pottery Barn:

I like that it has dividers on the inside for stuff. You'd easily be able to store your checkbooks, stamps, address book and business cards there.

Some kind of paper organizer tray might be good for dumping mail, and you could separate bills with one of those stand-up letter organizers.

A file cabinet with manila folders that are labeled for each item.

It's just hidden counter space in the kitchen.
Thanks for the ideas. I have to measure the area and see what can fit in there.

Unfortunately I can't fit a file cabinet on my kitchen counter. lol
We do have 3 in our home office though and they are extremely helpful....although I was going through it today trying to file some bills and it's so stuffed that it's not even organized anymore. ANOTHER project!!!

I know exactly what you're saying C! Every time I try to clean up one area in the house - it seems like I find at least two other areas that need it too!!!
